Books-in-Progress

Currently at work on a novel (Delhi Jasmine) and a collection of short fiction (The Happiness of Wandering Beings).

"Pankaj Challa's stories have a Chekhovian simplicity, that is, a simplicity, like that of all great fiction, which grows more and more complex the more and more you stare at it, until you become unsure about, well, practically everything that you thought you knew."

- Steven Barthelme, author of Hush, Hush: Stories

"The runner-up of [the 2018 Gulf Coast Prize in Fiction] is [Pankaj Challa's story] 'The Bridge,' for its playful, Chekhovian account of a migrant in a hostile land, its gentle sense of humor and its great animating energy on behalf of those who live hungry, poor and self-sabotaging."

                    - Joshua Ferris, author of Then We Came to the End: A Novel
